 worked great for 2 years Feb 05, 2010
Got this as a gift. Worked fine for 2 years, although I agree that the volume buttons aren't that easy to use. But today I picked in up and it shocked me. It was a mild shock, but I did see a spark and now it doesn't work. Really should have gotten more use out of it given what it must have cost. Perhaps it's just another sign of our disposable age, but disappointing none the less.
Very solid portable audio system Aug 21, 2009
I bought the Sandisk Sansa version of this for my wife a year or two ago and loved it, so recently I purchased this IM5 (iPod) dock as a Mother's Day present. It is actually a replacement for some magnetic portable speakers that Apple sells at the iTunes store, since those stopped working after a few days.
This has great sound for such a tiny size, and charges the iPod without overcharging like some other docks do. You can hook up any input to it through the AUX in jack, but most will just use their iPods with it. The only reason I didn't give this item 5 stars is because it is nearly impossible to find the subwoofer that Altec Lansing says you can add to the system. I fully recommend this, as well as the IM510 if you own a Sandisk MP3 player.

Assembly is simple. The sound of this system is terrific, but easily adjusted up or down. Sound is very clear. My only suggestion for improvement would be a remote. Good value of top rated system for excellent price.
Poor communication/service May 04, 2009
This product was used but said new and not anything like I thought it would be. I tried to return it and get my money back but they would not let me and just sent me the same player again. I kept asking for my money back and they would not even respond to that, they just kept saying they would send me another one, even though I did not want the player. Just warning to make sure you 100% want the product before ordering from them bc they will not refund your money, you will be keeping the product.
ipod docking station Feb 12, 2009
I don't recomend this product it stops playing every minute or so, then it comes in louder when started again. Very disappointed, will have to return it, and had to go without music all week during our get away.
