ETY-Plugs (TM) earplugs use patented technology that replicates the natural response of the ear canal so that sound heard with these earplugs is as clear as the original, just quieter. ETY-Plugs earplugs have nearly the same fidelity as Etymotic's Musicians Earplugs (TM) (custom earplugs worn by professional musicians) and are a low cost alternative. Hearing loss is a function of exposure time, the average sound level, and the peak level of very loud sounds. Exposure to excessive noise can cause permanent hearing loss depending on the intensity and duration of the sound. Some persons are more susceptible to hearing loss from high-level sound than others. Protect your ears. In high-noise environments, wear Ety-Plugs. Includes one pair of Ety-Plugs, carrying case, black neck cord and instructions.

5Protect your ears!!  Jun 09, 2010
I play in a band 3 nights a week. These really reduce the strain on your ears and you can hear the music fairly decently. Sound is not as muffled as with regular earplugs. Just took a little getting used to.

4Works as advertised  May 21, 2010
Being a music photographer and musician, being able to hear the music of the bands I shoot is really important to me, but so is my hearing. While there are lots of cheaper earplug alternatives, none have allowed me to really experience and enjoy the music like these have. I was really surprised the first time I used these at a concert. I could hear the music clearly, it was just as if someone had just turned the volume down. They are moderately comfortable and the supplied lanyard comes in really handy. The only problem is because the lanyard attaches to the earplugs using a rubber cup that you push onto the end of the earplug, it cuts some of the higher frequencies so the earplugs don't have the same clarity as they do without. A different way to attach the lanyard to the earplugs would really make this a 5-star product.

5Great for concerts  May 13, 2010
The frequency attenuation is much more flat... And mainly, you can hear the high frequencies (high hats, snare overtones, etc.) just fine. Everything just becomes quiter evenly. Wearing other plugs, usually cuts the high frequencies much more than mids, so everything sounds muffled.

5Really strange...  May 12, 2010
Does just what it promises. I used these at a rock concert, and it was a strange experience. After inserting the plugs, I could still hear every detail of the music, it was just quieter. And my ears were not ringing afterwards.

Fit may be an issue for some as they go pretty deep into the ear canal. If you don't wear in-canal earbuds often, I'd recommend wearing these for short periods a few days before an event to aclimate to he fit and feel.

5They have become indispensable  Apr 08, 2010
I'm coming back to buy my 3rd pair because I'm worried that my last remaining pair will get lost and I'll be stuck without them for the 3 shipping days.

These ear plugs are great for riding subways since they are easy to insert and discreet. They work better than my expense noise canceling Sony ear buds.

I especially love them for loud movie theaters or if I'm in a crowded space. They help stop that claustrophobic feeling when there's a lot of people crammed into a small area. One interesting thing I've noticed is that it's actually easier to have a conversation in a noisy locations while wearing these ear plugs.

Another review claims they are hard to insert, but I disagree. These earplugs do NOT require you roll them up, insert them and wait for them to re-expand like cheaper models. You do have to get the angle right and twist them into place; however, since your ear canal never changes, it's easy to learn the correct orientation and repeat.
