ETY-Plugs earplugs have nearly the same fidelity as Etymotic's Musicians Earplugs (TM) (custom earplugs worn by professional musicians) and are a low cost alternative. Hearing loss is a function of exposure time, the average sound level, and the peak level of very loud sounds. Exposure to excessive noise can cause permanent hearing loss depending on the intensity and duration of the sound. Some persons are more susceptible to hearing loss from high-level sound than others. Protect your ears. In high-noise environments, wear Ety-Plugs. Includes one pair of Ety-Plugs, carrying case, black neck cord and instructions. | | | |

Perfect for Concerts May 11, 2010 I bought these after I went to a couple of Alice in Chains concerts and had my ears ringing well into the next day. I decided to try these out after reading some of the reviews. I am so pleased with them. I went to a concert last night and they worked amazingly. The music still came through but with a lot less distortion. It did not take away from the experience. In fact, I'd say that they added to it since I didn't wince if the music went too loud. I strongly recommend these to any avid concert-goer.
Great for concerts and generally loud places Feb 10, 2010 I've used these at several concerts. They reduce the overall noise level so that it's not painful and yet you can still hear the music beautifully.
One could say these are the "clear" choice Dec 21, 2009 I've gone to a number of concerts in my days. One thing that always bothered me was the ringing that persisted for a few hours after such amazing events. It had even gotten to the point that it was bothering me trying to sleep.
I would have to say that etymotic products, in general, have a learning curve for comfort. It took me a while to get used to listening to music through the Er-6i's, but in reality it was because my ears were not adjusted to having such low amounts of background noise and the pure audio.
After that learning curve, i progressed into their other products, and eventually stumbled on the er20's. This seemed like a relatively inexpensive way to boost the enjoyment from loud events. I went to a "taste of chaos tour" concert, some of the bands i really didn't enjoy, and some i enjoyed a ton. I'm so glad I had these ear plugs in for the concert. I took them out a couple times just to see how loud everything was, and I don't understand how it's legal to destroy people's hearing like that. Don't get me wrong though, I totally agree with rockin' the F out. After the concert, I took the earplugs out and everybody was practically screaming at each other just to maintain a conversation because their hearing was shot.
Another great thing about these earplugs is that they are completely reusable. The part that goes in your ear is rubbery flanges that can be removed to be washed, and the other part is plastic tubing that creates the uniform reduction of sound. Most earplugs have a lot more attenuation on the upper frequencies, which means you cant really hear the music (or speech, or anything) anymore. Also, the cheap 99 cent foam ear plugs get sweaty, waxy, and generally uncomfortable after long periods of time. It makes sense to spend a little more once, and have something that is good for many concerts to come. If you are worried about how far they stick out of your ear, I would say they stick out enough that you couldn't lay your head on a pillow on its side comfortably, but it doesnt stick out past what most peoples ear stick out. They also have clear ones if you are worried about it.
Etymotic is a fantastic brand, and these earplugs just make sense to invest in for the future of your hearing.
Good for motorcycling... Dec 17, 2009 This is my second pair of ER20 earplugs. The first pair, purchased in 2000 were bigger and less comfortable than these that I purchased in December, 2009. Very durable and still in use after nearly 10 years. This second pair provides the same 20dB of attenuation and full range sound, just quieter. Better fit and comfort - depending on the size of your ear canal. The 20dB rating is just about perfect for motorcycling (unfaired, highway commuting) as at that level of attenuation, you can still hear cars, car horns, and even truck tires on the highway. Depending on your helmet and bike, 25dB of attenuation might be better, but YMMV.
Highly recommend these.
Love these earplugs Dec 10, 2009 I've owned numerous sets of these earplugs and I love them. I go out to a lot of concerts and I am always disappointed if I forget my plugs. Not only does it help protect your hearing, but they also make the sound clearer and more enjoyable than no wearing them. These plugs tend to eliminate the noise and you can enjoy the experience of the music you went to the show to see (hear). Personally, I don't mind how these plugs feel but friends of mine can't stand them. You can definitely feel the ridges in your ear. A friend bought custom molds for his ears as he could not handle these. That is the only reason why I knock a few points off of the comfort rating.
