4Met me expectations  Aug 27, 2010
I've owned these for three weeks. So far so good, they sound great. Lots of detail and the bass is pretty good too. I think they are better than the Denon AHC751K I owned before these. You have to put these into the canal and get a air tight seal for these to sound right. I did have some issues with the tips not fitting. But I found the foams ones worked very well and they are comfortable. The cables are nice that they don't tangle as easily as other earphones I have used. I can't attest for the build quality, but I always store them in the case after I am done with them and I hope they last a long time. BTW I listened to the Monster turbine earphones today and they sounded muddy compared to these.

3Excellent isolation, bass should be stronger...  Aug 26, 2010
This is my second pair of Etymotics. They have respectable sound quality in the midrange, less so at the frequency extremes (yes, they were properly seated in the ear canal.) I enjoyed the music less because I had to concentrate on hearing the bass. Used with gen4 Ipod classic with all Apple Lossless files. They are great for frequent flyers, though. They really do provide significant isolation from the outside world.

1not as advertised  Aug 24, 2010
These headphones are advertised as iphone compatible. THEY ARE NOT. If you walk, or move, or bend, it either tries to answer your phone, or dials someone. It does not work with an iphone! So it was returned.

I was charged over $30.00 for a restocking fee, and more $$ for some other unspecified reason.even though the headphones don't work. DO NOT BUY THESE AND EXPECT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. OR ANY OF THE "AS ADVERTISED" FEATURES.

1shoddy quality  Aug 24, 2010
if you plan on carrying the iphone in your pocket while using the headphones.. forget it! the jack becomes loose soon after use, and the sound starts disappearing.. you have to wiggle the jack to get the sound back.. extremely frustrating! and this for such an expensive product?!!! :(

4HF5 without filters  Aug 12, 2010
Overall very good product, handy, easy to carry and light, good sound, and good noise reduction for air travel. Caveats: noise from cable friction, and of course due to sound insulation from external sources you hear your own heartbeat or movements of your jaw, especially chewing.
Try all the included earpieces to find out which suits better your external ear canal.
If you find that your high frequencies are subdued, remove the filters. To my ears this pair sounds better without, when I listen to classical music.
