1Not working with the iPhone 3GS and iOS4  Jul 15, 2010
I'm afraid if you are planning to pair it with the iPhone with OS4, it will not work. I just bought this unit and am pretty upset that it does not work the way they advertise. Also, the USB iPod connection will randomly disconnect and you need to reset the connection to get it to play again. This happens every time I start my car and use it for a while. I'm pretty tech savvy and read the entire manual so I know it isn't operator error. I just sent Pioneer an email which I will keep in communication through this review about what I learn.

Update: July 17th 2010

After speaking with Pioneer via phone, they said that all of their units are having problems with the iOS4 in regards to Bluetooth connectivity. There is no resolution and there is no way of getting notification when they resolve the problem. Unfortunately, Pioneer has not kept their products current with Apple's iOS which means the consumer is going to end up with a stereo that does not work.

In closing, I spent $500 for a new stereo that does nothing more than my old factory stereo for music playback. I am not satisfied with my purchase.

Pleas rate this review so others will know of this issue and be aware of the faulty product.

2Iphone Bluetooth Connectivity Issues. Terribly Complicated!  Jul 01, 2010
This unit was just installed in my 07 Toyota tundra. I have an iphone 3gs with the OS4 system. The bluetooth has SO many issues with this operating system. Pioneer MUST have a firmware upgrade VERY SOON or they will have lots of problems with angry customers!

I will warn you that the iphone 3gs with OS4 system WILL HAVE PROBLEMS connecting with Bluetooth!

That being said, the interface for this unit is horrendous. It is terribly complicated, and i had to read the online manual about 50 times for each function. I am barely a 10th of the way through it. So do be aware that you will have to be very patient to overcome a huge learning curve. I rate this unit a 2 of 5 for the reasons i have listed.

The issue i am having currently (6/30/10) is that the bluetooth handsfree calling works perfectly and auto connects every time i get into my truck... but the the AUDIO STREAMING through bluetooth will NOT auto connect. I must do it manually every time the headunit gets shut off. This is very very annoying.

Pioneer is "aware of the problem" and has done nothing and gives no helpful advice. Apple is aware of the "general bluetooth issues with OS4" but has not given any advice that is useful at all.

Buyer Beware! Caveat emptor! Iphone will have problems with bluetooth connectivity.

Please reply to this review if you have any other questions regarding this issue, or if you have any solutions.
I will also reply to my own comment if i have any updates for you.

Thanks, and good luck!

3Lots of Stuff but a little complicated  Jun 30, 2010
I own a Nissan SUV that came with the double din, I wanted to install a stereo that would not stand out, yet seem elegant... I accomplished the first thing, the second one.. still not sure. In the Amazon's pics it seems beautiful, but in reality, is not quite stunning. The buttons seem a little hard and as I said the material doesn't help, its all hard plastic. The wheel, which is the best physical feature responds well, though on the Ipod it kind of has a lag reading the playlist or songs info.
For me, the best Pro that this stereo has is all it does (CD, Mp3, Ipod, USB, Bluetooth), I have an Iphone, iPod integration is a deal-breaker, and this stereo performs. whether you want to control it through Bluetooth audio or using the usb cable it works nicely. Contact sync on the Iphone does not work at all though, it says that the phonebook is empty, so haven't enjoyed that feature. Receiving calls and dialing through the remote could be nicer. The voice call sound is very good and I guess the mic works flawless.. Havent been told to shut the speaker mode yet.

The main con is that the stereo is not quite user friendly as it should be, I'm still trying to figure out a few things.

Basically I find the radio a little overpriced for what I seem to be enjoying, it does offer all this stuff that I wanted to have in a stereo, but the interface could be different, I personally hate the fact that the screen looks like an 80's stereo..

2iPhone integration failed  Jun 23, 2010
I used to love my stereo. I bought this stereo because it worked with my iPhone. The integration between the iPhone and stereo isn't perfect but it worked. At least until I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS4. Then the bluetooth audio streaming function stopped working. I called Pioneer. They do not know how to fix. They also do not know why it doesn't work anymore. Personally I blame Apple for this screw up. But what really matters is that this stereo will no longer work with the current iPhone OS. Maybe they will have a firmware upgrade. The one and only reason I bought this stereo has disappeared.

4Finally no static playing my iPod  Jun 15, 2010
I bought this for my 2004 Ford Explorer - for the phone features and for playing my iPod nano directly, instead of through an adapter. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the unit. The sound is infinetely adjustable, the display is easy to read, the controls are friendly, once you understand the system. I can play music off of a flash drive, CD, iPod, AM/FM, so I'm never bored.

The phone is trickier to figure out, but the microphone quality is clear and being able to turn up the volume on a phone call is great, especially with increased noise on highway drives. During the initial setup, be SURE to set the phone volume to what you want FIRST, because changing it is more difficult than it should be. My Blackberry Pearl connected easily while the address book transfer was a bit trickier.

The phone has a feature to prevent feedback - I've got it on all the time and at the highest setting. Makes for super clear conversations, according to those who are hearing me on the other end. Great product, I would recommend to anyone.
