Better than the E2c Mar 29, 2010 This review is mainly for those comparing between this and the Shure E2c.
I previously had the E2c, which I was very pleased with. They unfortunately died (sound stopped coming out of the right ear) just after the 2yr warranty period ended. I was a little annoyed that they died, since I didn't really abuse them: I used them about 3-4hrs a week at the gym and some other random times. To compare, I've had a paid of Sony earphones which I used to use daily at the office, which are still going strong after 5yrs.
I decided to stick with Shure because:
-I was pleased with the sound isolation
-I was pleased with the sound quality
-I did some online research, and these seemed to be the best in this price point.
At first, I was going to pick up another pair of E2c's from Amazon, but the only ones available had a $10 shipping fee. I did some searching, and found these, which are actually meant to be the replacements for the E2c. They come out about $10 more expensive (after accounting for the free shipping on these ones).
I was a little concerned about this model (compared to the E2c) because of the short wire length which necessitated the use of a the wire extender, but it's not a huge deal. Most of the time, I don't even notice it (the exception is when I was bench pressing and the bench was hitting the connector and pressing it into my chest, which was actually a little painful). Also, the ear pieces seem lighter and a better fit than the E2c's. Sound quality is about the same.
Great in ear earphone Jan 06, 2010 I've used this earphone for over 2 years now, yes I got it right after it was released. It has been a great earphone, it is comfortable and sound quality is good in my opinion. I have a sansa clip and I often found that the minimum volume is loud enough for music, I even wished it could be lowered further.
The sound isolation does a wonderful job, I use the foam plug. And don't bother buying replacement for it, which I did, because after 2 years of almost daily use it is still in good condition. The down side of this form of sound isolation is that I do hear I own footsteps(unless I use very well cushioned shoes), but if it is really bothering me I, pull it out a little bit, the sound isolation is lost, but I don't hear myself walking or running anymore. And also if I wear glasses and use the earphone over the ear, sometimes I will hear the cord rubbing against the glasses frame.
Recently I noticed that the distal part of the cord, the part that is closer to the ear, lost it's flexibility. Maybe from constantly being bent to conform with my ears shape. The left side cracked and it is now slowly falling apart. It just came out of the manufacturer 2-years warranty, I guess they calculated it very well. If you have any tips on preventing this type break now, let know.
Overall, it's a good in-ear earphone and I'm getting another one to replace it.
I (almost) couldn't hear the plane - but did hear the music Oct 17, 2009 Received 4 hours before flying 3 hrs to Denver and then to Phoenix. Seated behind the engines and heard sounds in Phantom, Yo Yo Ma, and Chicago that I had not ever heard before on a plane, and barely heard the plane. It took a few tries to get the fit and placement right, but was in love with these before we landed. Much better noise suppression than the Bose QC2 headphones and soooo much smaller.
Great Isolation! May 15, 2009
I work in an environment with plenty of ambient noise and have the need to concentrate, so I really need headphones that allow me to hide. I didn't want noise cancelling technology because it doesn't handle the voices around me, and I didn't want to crank up the volume to block the noise.
These headphones do a great job of blocking out noise and remain comfortable for quite a while. I have even used them without any music just to have a bit of peace and quiet.
Musically, the earphones are pretty good. They aren't perfect - I could use a bit more bass on some songs. I am overall happy with the sounds; I generally listen to a variety of artists, from the Postmarks to LL Cool J to Pink Floyd.
The earphones also come with a kit to swap out the size of foam inserts. I haven't tried to change them out, so I can't comment on how easy it will be.
In a nutshell, I recommend them.
Shure SE210 headphones Apr 14, 2009 I received these a little over a month ago....I'm very pleased with the sound quality compared to my old headphones......also, they are very easy to insert in the ear if you follow the directions.
