It's OK but you wont be hosting any parties with it Jul 08, 2010
I bought this for my I pod a couple of months back and just recently decided to replace it with a full size stereo. There isn't much bass to it, but it does charge and play your ipod and it even has a remote control. After using it for a couple of months i've decided to put it in my bathroom rather than have it as my main ipod sound system. When it comes to bass and sound clarity it can do better, but if you want something that is not going to make you go deaf this boombox should do the job. This boombox is used as a radio/ipod player for my young son. I would not be happy with it but since it works for him, it's okay.

The cd function has become spotty after 6 months of usage but since he does not really play cds, it's not a a big issue for him. The radio with the fold out antennae receives enough stations in the NYC area. Accessing the preset stations and setting them requires reading the manual. The best part of this boombox is the built-in ipod player. You press a button and the ipod connector slides out for easy use. This is the primary function of the Sony boombox.

The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired for my ears but my son likes it just fine. His only complaint is that the volume does not go loud enough. The volume button goes up to "10" with three levels on each number. I like the fact that this player does not go thumping loud given my son's musical taste. Although this is a plus with me, if you are purchasing it for an adult you might want to consider spending a little more money for better sound quality along with more features Philips Executive 30-Watt Micro Speaker System with iPod Dock (Black/Silver).

I do like the portability of this player. It is light enough and easy to pick up and carry with the built-in handle that folds down neatly. It can be plugged in or used with batteries. The battery life varies, we've gotten anywhere from 6 to 20 hours depending on the type of batteries used.

I would recommend this Sony boombox for kids, camping or beach use. If you are looking for a great sound system, keep looking.

This is my 2nd boom box in two years. This one is very good for the money. The CD device works much better then my last one (iLive). All the parts on the iLive eventually stopped working. On this Sony all the parts are easy to access and the remote is very good. If you are looking for a cd player, mp3 player and radio all in one you can't go wrong with this item. As much as I want to move just to mp3, I still like playing my cd's.

Although the sound even with the Mega Base is not up to what I thought it would be the overall performance is in line with the price and perfect for a bedroom or den.

The company I purchased this from is excellent.This boombox is very good except the radio reception is not good overall.An EQ would make this an awesome boombox.Otherwise a good product.
