Great sound poor durability Jul 31, 2010
I've owned or given as gifts over a dozen sets of Vibe earphones. I bought so many because I love the sound and everyone I've given them to agree with me: this is the best sounding earphone on the market. And they look very nice. But all broke within the first six months of ownership. At first I thought it was because I was using a cord manager to keep them untangled, so I started using the pouch they come with instead. This helped a lot. But I've still had to return every pair within the first year. Usually the sound goes out in one of the earbuds. To V Modas credit they replaced them all with no hassle. After the replacements broke I just figured if my total ownership added up to a year I would just let it go. So, I would say, go ahead and try these, especially at the current price (I paid $100 or more last year) with the understanding you will have to replace them after a few months. In fact, just buy two pair so when the first goes out you won't be without while you wait for them to be replaced.

These earbuds produce an extremely nice quality of sound; good bass, I don't have to crank the volume just to hear them, and everything is nice and clear without any fuzziness. Similarly, these things are extremely comfortable in your ears and seal very well. This is actually the first pair of earbuds that I have been able to keep in my ears for any length of time without them falling out or chafing really bad.

The only real bad point with these is that on my particular pair, after I inserted and removed the plug from the audio jack on my iPhone a grand total of TWO times, the metal sheathing just popped off the plug. It's not a very big deal, as I'm simply going to clean off their crappy epoxy and replace it with an epoxy that I know is practically indestructible, but I really shouldn't have to do that within a day of using the product for the first time.

I'm still rating this 4 stars overall because this is literally the only pair of earbuds I've encountered that were comfortable and produced good sound, and since the fix will take only about five minutes to do. Just be aware that the fitting around the plug isn't solid metal as it appears to be, but is metal sheathed plastic, and as such may fail at some point.

bought along with the gunmetal color set. This pair was the reworked model meant to addrress the fraying wires but only accomplished hiding them. After two months of the best sounding headphones I've ever had the wires at the jack became loose and would only work if pulled in a certain direction. m

This is my 3rd pair of ear buds! The first set my puppy chewed so I bought a 2nd set and my sister borrowed and never returned so I am on my 3rd set. They are reasonably priced and worth every penny!

V-Moda Vibe Earbuds Deliver Big Bass Jul 10, 2010
It's true. The V-Moda Vibe Earbuds Deliver Big Bass once you get the soft ear inserts fitted properly. Out of the box, the sound quality was tinny and unimpressive. But, once I went up a size (three sizes are included) the sound was full and rich with excellent bass response - not boomy, but deep.

I bought these for use with my iPad on the airplane where the ambient noise tended to drown out movie sound tracks with my Apple ear buds. The design of these in ear buds provides a lot of passive noise reduction which made it possible for me to hear all the dialogue for the first time!

The styling is great and they come with a v-shaped rubber mandrel for winding the cord around AND a small carrying pouch. Both of which say quality and attention to detail to me. The only disappointment is that the wire insulation is a clear PVC which makes the wires tend to stick to one another. The colored braid you think you see in the photos is actually on the inside of this clear PVC outer insulation. But, for the price, these are terrific!
